Here are some common signs that indicate that baby is in stress:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are not eating, and refuse to take feed&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are crying more than normal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They lack emotions. This behaviour will be the opposite of crying, and they will instead be unresponsive.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"sources-of-stress\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sources of Stress<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some sources of stress that can lead to a baby feeling nervous or fearful:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"1-prenatal-stress\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Prenatal Stress<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.media.uzh.ch\/en\/Press-Releases\/2017\/stress-hormones-in-amniotic-fluid.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Zurich<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, if an expecting mother has been stressed over a very long period of time, it can increase the risk of the baby developing a mental illness later on in life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, short term stress has no effect on the baby in the womb. It is very normal to feel stressed out, and pregnancy is no easy feat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So moms don\u2019t have to worry about harming their unborn babies every time they experience any kind of stress.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"2-unmet-needs\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Unmet needs<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Newborns and infants have basic needs that need to be met. These needs are nourishment, affection and attention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If these basic needs are unmet, it can result in toxic stress for the baby which will also continue to affect them as they grow older.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unmet needs will prevent the child to reach their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/moral-landscapes\/201803\/the-demand-life-and-the-basic-needs-babies\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">full potential<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"3-frustrated-during-the-development-process\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Frustrated during the development process<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At a certain point of the developmental process, be it 3 months, 6 months or even a year, babies tend to get incredibly fussy.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For babies it can get quite overwhelming when things are changing constantly for them, which in turn can be stressful.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try to understand things from their perspective, when the world is noisy and fuzzy and you don\u2019t have much control over anything.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crying from stress is quite an understandable response.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"4-physical-pain\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. Physical pain<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The body of an infant is constantly changing, and some of these changes can be physically painful for them in the beginning, like teething.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their digestive systems are also new, and getting used to digesting and sometimes there may be some hiccups (literally, too) in the process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is short term stress for the baby, and it will soon pass.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a parent, you can try making things easier by calming them down as much as you can, and giving lots of cuddles.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you feel like the pain is a cause of something you cannot pinpoint, then you should schedule an appointment with the pediatrician.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"5-yelling-arguing-in-the-house\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5.
